Been using this vacuum for three months and it works like a champ. My brother owns a dyson, and he said this hoover vacuum just as good if not better. I am live with 4 female household, and it picks up their hair great. Out of about three small rooms I got two cups full of hair and dirt. This thing is amazing! You won't be dissappointed. Would recommend to everyone. This is truly a dyson clone without the extra $$$.

Space Bag WBRS5402T Stackable Vacuum-Seal Space-Saver Tote, Jumbo

The storage totes are much better than the plain vacuum seal bags. The canvas outer bag keeps the inner plastic bag from tearing. If you don't overfill the totes, then they vacuum down nicely. I'm very pleased with the amount of clothes that I can fit in a tote. The jumbo totes hold the equivalent of 2-3 large vacuum seal bags. I also love how well they stack in a corner. The regular vacuum seal bags are lumpy and just slide off of a pile and onto the floor. The jumbo totes are great!

Create up to four times more storage space with this convenient tote--it can hold the same amount as four regular plastic bins. To use, simply add the items to be stored, zip up the bag, and remove the air that creates bulk using a household vacuum. Its patented one-way valve works with any standard vacuum-cleaner hose. The bag can hold up to three bedding sets and pillows, plus 12 sweaters or jackets. The reusable bag not only compresses bulky items for more compact storage, but it also forms an airtight seal for ultimate protection from dirt, moisture, mildew, bugs, and odors. Other highlights include a reusable design, a see-through window, and straps inside and handles outside for secure, easy transport. The jumbo-size tote measures 25-1/2 by 19-3/4 by 10-1/2 inches.

I don't think I've ever written a review for a product before, but I feel this baby truly deserves some recognition! I am so amazed at how well this vaccuum does its job! I thought you had to pay a lot of money to get a good vaccuum, you know, one that really works, so I went and bought a Dyson DC-25 Animal to see what it could do. I don't own any pets, but I thought that a vaccuum designed to pick up even all the pet hair in a house would be the best, and I'd heard all the hype about Dyson and how it's supposed to be so great. Then I brought it home, tried it out and thought, "really? this is supposed to be worth slmost $600?" I could not justify all that money for something that seemed to work no better than all the others I'd had before, so I took it back, disappointed. I decided to buy this dirt devil instead for less than a fifth the price based off reviews here, and man am I glad I did!! I tried it out as soon as it arrived and it sucked up stuff even the Dyson had missed - I mean a lot of stuff! This vaccuum is awesome. Even better than the Dyson and so much cheaper, it's a no-brainer. Plus it's still bagless, has a hepa filter, and all the attachments you need. The only thing I don't like is one of the attachments always seems to fall off when I'm really getting into it going under the table or around other furniture, but I can totally live with that. Buy this thing and be happy!! Or get the Dyson so you can tell all your friends what a dum-dum you are for spending so much money on a so-so vaccuum.

Electrolux EL 7020B Oxy3 Ultra Canister Vacuum Review

Electrolux EL 7020B Oxy3 Ultra Canister Vacuum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After having my last two vacuums die unceremonious deaths, I decided to do a little more research in buying a vacuum than usual. I checked consumer, and epinions for reports on the latest canister vacuums. I tried out my neighbors vacuums to see if they met my needs, and ultimately decided on the Electrolux Oxygen Ultra.
I am not sorry! This vacuum is fantastic. The bare floor attachment in larger than most making the task of vacuuming easier. However, it still manages to fit into all of my smaller areas (between toilet and tub). It is also more narrow than most I have tried. Because of this, I was able to vacuum in between my banister poles, leaving me one less job to do.
This attachment, along with the telescoping pole, did a terrific job getting under my couches, beds, and dressers, with the exception of one of my daughter's rooms where there isn't much clearance. Furthermore, I decided to give it a go on my blinds. It did a terrific job removing the dust from the 2 1/2 slats.
I then switched out for the motorized head and was very impressed with the power it had for carpeting. I actually found myself being pulled along by it. I used on my berber, and area rugs. It did a great job cleaning them both. Fantastically, the power head plugs right into the handle to make cleaning my stairs a breeze. It took a little getting used to, but I think it did a better job than my last vacuum with a special stairs attachment.
The canister itself is better than others I have worked with. It moved effortlessly. I did not find it was crashing into walls or getting caught up on furniture. It was extremely quiet as well. I found the cord length to be sufficient (I have quite a large house and didn't have change outlets anymore often than with other vacuums) and the extra length on the hose made cleaning higher items easier.
I love the controls on the handle as well. The buttons controlling the power, type of vacuuming and on/off switch were easy to use.
I had no problems with changing out the heads. However, I have not been able to work the space saving storage option of hooking the head onto the canister body. This is not such an issue as I have the space to store it without utilizing this feature.
Bottom line: This is a great machine. I recommend spending the money, and getting a machine that will do a great job and last.

I have used a couple of these devices to connect the dust port on tools to vacume hose. Funny how there are standard sizes of dust collection and vacume hoses, but every tool seems to have a dust collection port that is in some odd size. Nothing fits. This adaptor gets in between the odd sizes of tools and standard size of hose. You can easily trim this adaptor to fit either an inside diameter or outside diameter of the adaptor. Like I have said before, it does what it says it will do.

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who finds those compressed air can things completely useless in cleaning crap out of my electronics. It's bad enough taht they're bad for the environment, they also don't work as well as the price tag says they should. Thank goodness for this attachment set!
All hype aside, this product works exactly as the makers claim. Use the power of your vacuum to get all the crap out of your keyboard, CPU, stereo and anywhere else. I particularly like the brushes.
I've also found that the dust I'm after is stubborn. You really do need the full power of a vacuum to get at it. So forget those handheld deals that hook into your USB port or whatever. This product is cheaper than a lot of them and works better than all of them.

Eureka LightSpeed Upright Vacuum, Bagless, 4700D Review

Eureka LightSpeed Upright Vacuum, Bagless, 4700D
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this vacuum strictly for the basement(where our Home Theatre is set up). It was a pain in the *ss carrying our canister up and down all the time, so I happened upon this cleaner on sale at Home Depot for a mere $70.00... I was initially skeptical at first, I mean a $70 vacuum? However, I purchased it anyway, knowing that I would be able to return it if I wasn't happy. The setup and assembly was fairly quick. The instructions were easy to follow and featured step-by-step illustrations. When I had everything ready to go, I decided to give it a "test run", and I was impressed. I was amazed at the junk our Sears Canister was leaving behind, as I watched the cat hair and dust swirling around in the collection bin. My only complaint-and this is common with bagless vacs in general-is that you MUST clean the filter off after every use, otherwise they tend to plug up and overheat the motor. This is especially true if you have multiple pets, or longhaired cats. In conclusion, this is a good machine. Strong suction too. The attachments include an extension wand for above floor cleaning, crevice tool, and dusting brush. The dustbin simply snaps off in a jiffy, and the filter is washable/replaceable. This is what I like to refer to as a "second vac", when you simply want a machine on another level in your home, without having to lug your main vacuum all over the place. I've owned it for about 5 months now, and so far, no complaints. Just keep it clean and you'll be set. Also, pay no attention to that one review below. This is obviously referring to a totally separate model. I'm happy.

Makita BCL180W 18-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Cordless Vacuum Kit Review

Makita BCL180W 18-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Cordless Vacuum Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For some 10 years or so I have been using the earlier Makita cordless stick broom with the 7.2 volt nickel cadmium, removable battery.
It works well, and in fact I still have it.
The big problem is the very expensive, low-quality batteries that Makita and competitors sell. It doesn't matter whether you buy branded or non-branded batteries. Over the ten years I must have spent over $300 on them. The vacuum is designed for a 7.2 volt battery but it also takes the 9.6 volt version, which I used for the extra suction.
But after 6 to 9 months, the battery would go flat in a week, even when not in use. Soon after that it would not hold a charge for even a few days, and I had to buy another, for about $40.
So now I have bought the Makita BCL180 kit. It was on sale from Amazon for about $140, including the charger and one 18 volt, 1.5 Ampere-hour battery. This was the lowest price around, by far.
As soon as I began using it I saw that it had been designed for a short, Japanese user, and I, at 5ft 9in, was too tall for it, and had to bend over it to run it.
Not good.
But there is a solution: Home Depot sells a stick vacuum made by Ridgid, and you can buy the parts for it. The wands for both vacuums are identical in diameter, and are therefore interchangeable. So, for $6.50 each I bought 2 extension wands and pushed them together for a perfect, friction fit. I set the Makita wands aside, in case a shorter person volunteers to do the vacuuming!.
Note: Because the vacuums are not made in America, they use metric dimensions for their wands. Our regular 3/4 inch and 1 inch PVC pipes won't fit.
But with the two, Ridgid extension wands, Voila! Plenty long, and in fact too long, so I sawed some 4-1/2 inches off one of them, and the result, for me, is perfect. A shorter person would just use the Makita wands that came with the kit.
This friction-fit of the two wands -- both the Makita and Ridgid versions -- results in their separating in use, and the whole thing collapses. So I locked them together with a simple, self-tapping screw where the wands join, and that was the end of that problem.
Battery Life:
From experience with the earlier stick vacuum I knew I would need a spare battery, so I bought one from Amazon while I was at it. I didn't know it, but the one that is sold separately has twice the capacity of the battery that comes with the kit, so this should give me lots of power. Even so, I'll use the charger to top up the battery that's not in use. The charger allows this.
Note: Makita says don't let the battery run flat, or its capacity will be reduced. They mean it and you have been warned, so when the vacuum slows down, STOP. Either recharge the battery or switch to your spare.
General:
The filter can be washed and dried, although it may be a good idea to have a spare. They're only $2 or so.
The Makita BCL180 has good suction, and I have noticed an improvement in the appearance of rugs, for example. I recommend it.

Hoover Elite Cyclonic Canister Vacuum with Power Nozzle, Bagless, S3825 Review

Hoover Elite Cyclonic Canister Vacuum with Power Nozzle, Bagless, S3825
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Our Hoover wind tunnel vacuum was beginning to show some wear after 6 years (power cord insulation broken) so we decided to spend a little more money and buy a Dyson DC14. As soon as it was out of the box and turned on it made a horrible grinding racket so it went right back in the box and back to the store. I was gun shy about buying another vacuum and spent a lot more time trying them out. Having owned several Hoover vacuums including a carpet cleaner that I love, I began to think I shouldn't stray from a reliable brand but I was still open-minded as I shopped and used several different brands and models at the store. I found the Hoover Elite Cyclonic to be the best that I tried. It is very simple to operate, with common sense, intuitive hookups between the canister and hose and the hose and wand. The adjustable wand is heavy duty metal and clicks quickly and easily in and out of the power nozzle. The power nozzle itself has a light and a powered, spinning brush that I like. The cyclone canister holds plenty of dust and lint and is easy to empty. I was leery about buying a canister since I have always found uprights easy to move around but I have absolutely no trouble handling the Elite Cyclonic. The adjustable handle is a plus since I am tall and my wife is shorter, and we can both vacuum comfortably. An absolute plus given my worn electrical cord problem is the automatic cord reel, which winds the cord into the canister body at the touch of a spring-loaded button. The vacuum is powerful and pulled dust, lint, and hair out of the carpet as well as the Dyson I used, but with none of the noise and flimsyness that I experienced with that brand.
The ONLY minor complaint I have about this vacuum concerns the fact that since it is bagless, there is a slight dusty mess when emptying the canister container into the wastebasket. I believe this to be true with any of the bagless vacuums currently on the market, and it empties quite like the Dyson that I tried. This messy disposal is certainly offset by the convenience and cost savings of not having to buy replacement bags. I highly recommend this vacuum cleaner!

Equipped with a 12 amp motor, this bagless canister vacuum cleaner provides powerful performance throughout the house. Convenient fingertip controls on the handle make it easy to adjust the suction-control valve or turn the brushroll function off when switching from carpets to bare-floor surfaces. The unit's multi-stage cyclonic technology first separates large debris into the outer chamber, then it separates fine dust into the center chamber, and finally it uses a filter to catch any remaining dust allergens that may have gotten through the first two stages. Combined with its HEPA media filter, which traps 99.97-percent of dust and pollens down to 0.3 microns, the vacuum offers exceptional filter technology for cleaner air and strong, consistent, suction power. Disconnect the power nozzle by simply stepping on the disconnect lever; the wand can then be used with a variety of on-board attachments for above-floor cleaning of upholstery, stairs, drapes, and more. Other highlights include an adjustable-height telescopic wand for comfortable use, a headlight on the power nozzle, a large-capacity bottom-empty dirt cup, and a 25-foot power cord with automatic cord rewind for tidy storage. The bagless canister vacuum cleaner measures approximately 26 by 16 by 15-4/5 inches.

Carpet Pro CPU 2T Commercial Vacuum Review

Carpet Pro CPU 2T Commercial Vacuum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
PROS: It is a reasonably priced (less than half the price of a Dyson!), reasonably quiet, has a reputation for durability, picks up cat hair (yea!), and has a nice REALLY long cord so you are not having to move your plug around every room.
CONS: Haven't found any yet (that bother me)... I guess there are two things I have read: 1. some people will dislike is that it's a big yellow monster, so it doesn't have the style cachet of a Dyson or even Hoover. But it's a vacuum cleaner, so I quickly got over that. 2. There are folks who complain it does not work on hardwood floors, which mystifies me - I don't run a vacuum on hardwood - I use a Swiffer, stick broom, or good old fashioned broom. If you have mostly hardwood or vinyl floors, this might not be for you (see the negative reviews). Honestly, I would NEVER run a heavy vacuum cleaner on a beautiful hardwood floor. Maybe that is just me.
That said, I stressed over our vacuum cleaner purchase more than I should have. I read the Amazon reviews, Consumer Reports, Consumer Search, and any other site I could find.
At the end of the day I came down to this vacuum and the Hoover U8173 Savvy TurboPower... Amazon's reviews of the Hoover U8173 Savvy TurboPower vacuum were limited in number but all positive; however, there was a mixed story out on the web on other sites/reviews about it. There were a few others that I absolutely ruled out after finding killer issues:
Dyson: destroys berber carpets AND costs $500
Hoover Tempo: only $70 or so, but seems to have some durability issues and no on-board tools.
Eureka: Not well built based on reviews and personal experience
This Carpet Pro is amazing. The night it came, I vacuumed and it picked up every piece of dirt and lots I couldn't see. It was also quiet enough that it did not wake my sleeping kids. I was running it over a previously vacuumed area, so that gave me further proof of how effective it was.
Three other observations:
1) I ordered this exact model - I got the CPU-2T model with on-board accessory tools.. I couldn't find that model on Amazon at the time I purchased it so I ordered it elsewhere... Glad we can order it from Amazon now. And I paid the same price WITH tools as most other stores had the CPU-2 (the model without tools) because of a 10% off coupon... The tools work well - intuitive to use and the hose is sufficiently long for me. And, they all have on-board storage. Our previous Eureka drove us crazy because all the tools did not fit on-board (ridiculous!)
2) This vacuum is not well known... It took a lot of hunting to learn about it, though two reviews I read were from Vacuum repairmen, who said it was the most durable, trouble-free vacuum they see. I knew it was a bit of a risk to buy a relatively lesser known vacuum. But it is commercial grade and made by the Tacony Corporation, who also makes Riccar and Simplicity vacuums. Two different vacuum stores recommended Riccar to me, so I felt better about this choice as a result.
3) We have a cleaning person come for occasional "deep cleaning" of our house - she loved the vacuum. Since she is someone who has lots of experience with different choices, I thought this was a good indicator that the Carpet Pro is a keeper!
--------
UPDATE July 09: We have had this vacuum now for about 9 months, and still love it. It picks up dirt and dust as well as it did when it was new, and behaves like it is indestructible. The only thing I don't love are the bag changes - not the neatest, but well worth the effort!
--------
Update Dec 09: Still going strong - no issues, and cleans as well as the day we got it! One additional comment - it is great for pet hair - the onboard tools do a nice job of snapping pet hair up, and what it doesn't get I use a lint roller on.
--------
Update Feb 11: Still going strong, and still love it. It cleans as well as it did on day one, as long as you change the bag in a timely manner. I have NEVER had a vacuum last this long without some drama. There is hair EVERYWHERE in our house (my wife, mom, and daughter have very long hair, 2 cats, etc.). With our old Hoover and Eureka, I spent every other vacuuming session unwinding hair from some roller somewhere. Not once yet with this vacuum. And as I said before, our cleaning person still loves it. Going on three years, and I'd buy another if it broke tomorrow in a heartbeat.

I have mostly hardwood floors and a little carpet and not a lot of space to store a bulky vacuum cleaner. It was difficult to find a model that would transition easily between wood and carpet. This model is excellent on the hardwood and tile floors, but it is not the greatest on the carpet. The suction is great and easily adjusted from the handle. It is easy to dump the dirt from the bagless collection area. It is a little small, so if fills up fast. The only other issue I have with this is that the cord is very short - so you have to keep replugging it in all over the house. Otherwise, a very lightweight, nicely designed vacuum. I am very pleased with it.

Electrolux Versatility 12 Amp Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner Review

Electrolux Versatility 12 Amp Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I looked at a lot of other vacuums before choosing this one. It SEEMED to be built well and the design/engineering would be very handy and effective. I got it home and was amazed at how well it picked up dirt. To my disappointment however, after a week of use, it started to malfunction. First, I noticed the brush roller seemed to stop spinning on carpet. Then shortly afterward, the vacuum would shut itself off repeatedly after the first couple minutes of operation. The manual says this vacuum is designed to shut itself off when there is a blockage inside it to prevent overheating. Well I checked and rechecked for a blockage, cleaned the filter and brush roll but it still did the same thing. I contacted Electrolux customer service and they would not admit this was a common problem nor would they tell me if there was a fix for this problem but if you research reviews on other web sites, it appears to be happening quite often. Instead of going through the hassle of going to my nearest service center 40 miles away, I returned the vacuum for a refund. I really liked the vacuum at first but will not try another one. I found a Hoover Elite Windtunnel with a 6 year warranty. Don't bother with this model, you will eventually regret it. By the way, if you are looking for the quality Electrolux vacuum of the past, these are not it. These are made in China by the same company that makes Eureka. The old Electrolux was bought by a company called Aerus Lux.

Hoover Portable Canister Vacuum, Bagged, S1361 Review

Hoover Portable Canister Vacuum, Bagged, S1361

Purchased this Hoover 3 months ago. I currently have a Eureka Mighty Mite and decided that I wanted to have another lightweight canister vacuum for downstairs. I happened to come across the Hoover Bright Orange canister vacuum and thought it was so neat looking, and since it was a Hoover - how could you go wrong.
Well the problems are as follows: suction - fair at best; wand connecting to the head won't stay put - it keeps coming apart no matter how hard you push the wand into the head; the bag - since I wasn't getting any suction I checked the bag and found that though it was only half-filled, the bottom of the bag had disintegrated - this happened twice. I'm not sure if this was due to its close proximity to the filter/motor, but I have never had a bag do this on any other vacuum cleaner I've owned.
Sorry to say, but it's a great looking vacuum, but that's the only thing going for it.
Definitely buy the Eureka Mighty Mite if you're looking for a vacuum for light cleanups.

Dirt Devil 082500 Breeze Bagless Canister Vacuum Review

Dirt Devil 082500 Breeze Bagless Canister Vacuum

This is the best vacuum I've had yet for hard wood floors. I have 1 child, 2 cats ,a dog and a bird and it literally was a breeze on all of their mess, such as candy wrappers, hair, cat litter and seeds. We have a large townhouse and I could do the first-floor and steps without having to replug somewhere else. The dirt canister is larger than I thought it would be and the suction was great! It's also very easy to clean. It is lightweight and easy to handle and the micro-fresh filter only needs to be replaced 2 times a year ... (Now that makes me breathe easy). The only thing I can come up with that I would change on this vac is that it does not have a retractable cord.

10 Inch No Blade Bladeless Portable Fan (Air Multiplier) Review

10 Inch No Blade Bladeless Portable Fan (Air Multiplier)
Average Reviews:

If it looks like a Dyson, works like a Dyson. It must be a Dyson, but this one is not. At half or almost 1/3 of the price of the original Dyson 10" bladeless desk fan. This one delivers just like the original Dyson. I would most likely get another one but hopefully, the makers of this Dyson copy would also manufacture the Dyson Stand fans. It is a little louder than the original Dyson since I've tried the Dyson at Best Buy but that is something I can overlook. Here is what is missing with the price difference. For the extra $200 you'll be saving from the original Dyson - you won't have the three year Dyson warranty and if a part breaks. Well, that is it. This is the only reason I am giving this product 4 stars instead of 5 plus the extra noise against the original Dyson. So, think things through before buying this Dyson copy. Otherwise, I am happy with my purchase.
