Now to be honest, this is a girly looking vacuum. It looks kinda purplish and two toned at that, in fact, Bissell calls it a Dark Cherry Fiz color. However, my wife liked the color, so that was a selling point for her. It also weighs considerably less than the Dirt Devil did, which was also a major selling point for both my wife and myself. (Yes, I do vacuum when nagged enough!)
So I brought it home, took it out of the box, and after 3 screws and 15 minutes later, the vacuum was put together. I found the assembly very easy to do, and the instructions quite straight forward.
Observations:
Right away I turned on the vacuum and found it very easy to maneuver. The adjustments for the floor height were easy to turn and it actually quieter than my Dirt Devil. All good things to me. Of course my wife and I took off the hose and tested the suction strength on each other, like the cheek, arm, and hair. Very impressive suction strength! Then my 2 yr. old son got upset because he thought that the vacuum was hurting us, so we stopped laughing and put the vacuum hose back.
I then vacuumed up a small patch of carpet in our spare bedroom, which I only use for my office, but right away my wife yelled at me to turn it off. She pointed out the amount of dust spiralling around the canister, which looked really cool! The cyclonic feature really works! There was a good amount of dust and debris already in the canister. We were both amazed at home much this vacuum had picked up, especially when this room had been vacuumed with the Dirt Devil just last week. Also, the carpet seemed to be fluffier. The 12 amps of power and extra wide 15 inch brush are very effective at cleaning our carpets.
I was also impressed with the fact that there are 2 filters on this vacuum. One just beneath the canister and a HEPA filter on the side of the vacuum where the air is returned to the room. Also both of these filters are very easy to find, remove, and replace. The canister also is very easy to remove, clean, and replace. A simple locking arm swings to one side to release the canister, then slides back to lock it in place.
There is also an indicator which changes colors based on the quality of air flow. If it is green, then things are well and air is moving freely. If it turns red then the airflow has become reduced, and if it turns black then there is something blocking the airflow completely. It is very easy to remove the entire hose, you just simply turn the hose on the back of the vacuum until it releases the hose, then you can clear away any blockages that might be in the way.
The hose is 14 feet long. However, I have not needed to use this feature as of yet, but it is very flexible and stretches easily. The Bissell Velocity Vacuum also comes complete with the dusting brush, TurboBrush, Curved Hose Wand, Extension Wand, and Crevice Tool. The power chord is extremely long at 35 feet, but can be a hassle when you only need a small amount of it for a smaller room. However, it is great when vacuuming a large room, or multiple rooms close to each other!
The TurboBrush also works great. I used it to vacuum off the stairs and my car. Again the 12 amps of suction strength is evident when the brush gets up to full speed. It really spins fast! I can even press it fairly strong into the carpet and it still spins.
There was mention that this vacuum seemed to tip over easily, and that is true. I tested this out on both carpet and bare floor. A good nudge or bump anywhere above the Turbo brush will send it falling backwards. Locking wheels would probably have helped in keeping this from happening. If you are going to be pulling on the hose to bring the vacuum closer to you, it is best to do this if the hose is attached to the handle at the bottom of the vacuum. However, I would not recommend this type of action.
Some people had issues with the power switch being on the front of the vacuum. This is not an issue for me. It is near enough the handle that it takes nothing to reach down and flip it off.
Conclusion
There isn't much about this vacuum that I don't like. It is lightweight, powerful, and easy to use. It is a little back heavy and can tip over fairly easily, and the power chord can be a nuisance because of its length, but those are minor problems.
For the money, you really can't go wrong with this vacuum. It will leave your carpets clean, fluffed, and your air filtered. What more can you ask for?

DIRT DEVIL M110002 REACTION UPRIGHT VACUUM Review

DIRT DEVIL M110002 REACTION UPRIGHT VACUUM

I bought this vacuum because it was compared to the Dyson, but anyone who has ever owned a Dyson knows that the Dirt Devil Reaction does not come close to the suction power of the Dyson. This vacuum is not worth the price and constantly looses suction while vacuuming. The bagless canister connects to the vacuum, plastic to plastic with no rubber in between to keep the suction well. Why they don't have any rubber in between, I don't know. Do not buy this poorly put together vacuum.

Infinity Upright Vac - NV30 Review

Infinity Upright Vac - NV30
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought the Infiniti at Costco, having heard nothing about it before I bought it. When I got it home, I read several reviews, and was so frightened I probably would have brought it back immediately if Costco wasn't already closed. But I tried it anyway.
First, I read the manual. Most of the problems others have mentioned are described in the manual, along with their cures. The handle must click into place or it will come out, for instance. To lock the unit in the upright position, push it all the way forward until you hear a click. To keep the unit from tipping over when you use the hose attachments, clamp the hose into the lower bracket, as the manual says. I have done all of these, and have not had the problems others mention. When all else fails, read the instructions.
When I first started the vacuum, I ran over a dirty spot in the carpet, and the dust and crumbs stayed where they were. I thought "Curses, it does lack power, as others have said!" (Yes, I talk like a pirate at times--blame Jery Bruckheimer!). I turned the unit off and, as the manual had said, I checked the height adjuster for the carpet. I had misunderstood the machine's symbols, and set it on highest instead of lowest. I reversed this setting. Vrooom, up came the crumbs. The thing picked up everything--crumbs, cat hair, a crusty spot on the carpet that I thought I was going to have to treat--my old vacuum had not worked on it. I had to empty the dust cup twice before I finished my living/dining room, because the vacuum was picking up cat hair my old vacuum had missed. This unit does NOT lack power.
Now, the bad stuff. The dust cup fills quickly, and is a bit awkward to clean. It empties from the bottom with the click of a lever, but in real life, I had to take the cup apart and remove the mesh filter to get all the dust out. That might be because of the cat hair in my apartment.
In addition to the dust cup, there is the "Upper Cyclonic Chamber," which has to be cleaned after every few uses, at least. It attaches to the top of the dust cup, and has twenty-four little chambers--this is supposed to eliminate the power drop other vacuums get when they begin to fill. To clean, you twist it off the top of the dust cup, release the little door on the chamber and shake out the dirt. This takes two hands, because the chamber is awkwardly shaped. Then you have to fill the chamber with water through a little drain hole and shake it clean. Not too difficult, but not as smooth as it sounds. Apparently, if this is not done after every couple of vacuums the machine could begin to lose effectiveness. Once rinsed, the unit has to dry overnight before it is ready to use again, the instructions say. So, don't wash until you are done. I made this mistake--I washed it before I vacuumed my couch, and had to wait until the next day.
There are also two filters to clean, in the bottom of the unit, but these only need occasional cleaning. The HEPA filter is washable and reusable.
Last, the construction. It seems somewhat sturdy, but not really solid. The handle is also the hose wand, and slides down into a shaft. There is some play in the handle, which may wear the little ball-clasps out over time, so mine might develop the handle issue others have mentioned.
Anyway, that covers it. Overall, I like the vacuum, and hope it holds up. It gets my carpet noticably cleaner than my old vacuum, and the room smells better, too. The headlight is useful. The unit is quieter than average, and only frightened one of my cats. Read the manual to avoid some of the problems others have mentioned.

The HEPA filter quits cleaning itself and you have to have a second vacuum to clean it....It is really a messy proposition to empty the bagless container....This is a truly poorly designed machine that Hoover has not given me any satisfaction on. I spend more time cleaning the wintunnel 2, after I vacuum, than I do in the actual vacuuming.

The patented WindTunnel 2 technology, located in the floor nozzle, forces the rotating brushes and airflow to work in harmony. It lifts and traps the dirt, so it won't scatter back into the carpet. Dirt ends up in the cleaner, not on the floor.
Standard Features

• Patented WindTunnel 2 technology • Self-cleaning HEPA filter • Real-Time tool system with Tag-Along grip • Automatic brush shutoff • Pet hair cleaning tool • Bottom-release dirt cup • Lifetime belt • Edge cleaners • Telescoping quick-release wand and super-stretch hose • Adjustable handle height • Brilliant headlights • 1-year warranty

Extra Features

• Additional extra-reach hose • Hard-floor brush

Self-Cleaning HEPA Filter

The WindTunnel 2 features a HEPA filter that cleans itself every 6 seconds, maintaining cleaning power. The filter traps 100 percent of dust mites, ragweed, and common grass pollens. Plus, you never have to touch or replace the main filter.

Real-Time Tool System

The Real-Time tool system with Tag-Along grip makes tool use easy. The handle instantly converts to a telescopic wand, with Tag-Along grip to guide the cleaner. The telescoping quick-release wand and additional-reach hose combine for 20 feet of cleaning reach, and the wand extends all the way to the floor. Instantly go from floor to tool cleaning with no stopping, bending, or stretching.

The Science Behind the Technology

By design, conventional vacuum cleaners scatter dirt back into the carpeting because the rotating brushes and airflow don't work in harmony. But Hoover engineers discovered a way to make the rotating brushes and airflow work in harmony with the power of the wind. It's called WindTunnel technology. Located in the floor nozzle, Hoover WindTunnel technology actually lifts and traps dirt, so it won't scatter back into your carpet, which means the dirt ends up in the cleaner and not on your floor.

What's in the Box Hoover WindTunnel 2 vacuum, pet hair cleaning tool, extra 8 feet of hose, hard-floor brush.

I bought through in-home sales pitch. I'd been leery about spending that kind of dough but now that I own it, its worth the investment. I too got hooked by the baking soda demo, that's just amazing. I'd just bought a Dyson the year before and I loved all the accessories but the bagless feature I thought I'd like turned out to be a negative...dust goes everywhere when you empty it, you have to go outside...and then it just blows back on you. PIA. I'd rather just dispose of a bag thank you. Also, I continued to have dust settling problem on all my furniture and electronics, the Dyson seemed to stir up a lot of dust in the air. After a week with Sentria I won't go back. Much less dust on all my furniture. I suspect it will continue to decline to nothing as I cycle through all the dust in the air settling on the floors.
Yeah, the shampooer isn't as thorough as a commercial shampooer/vacuum..but I didn't buy it for that anyway. If you spill something that goes to the pad, even a commercial shampooer won't get all that out...just lift your carpet and see for yourself, been there done that several times.
I also like the wallmount accessory box, very nice way to handle all the accessories.
I agree the in-home sales approach limits them in the market.
but its a great vacuum.

This product may smell good at first, but it is much too strong. It has left my family and myself unable to breathe. We have been coughing continually and have had burning eyes and thoat. It is so irritating that I cannot be in the carpeted rooms but a minute before having to leave. We have repeatedly tried to vacuum the scent out to get rid of it without success. Our next step is to try to shampoo it out of the carpet. This is the worst product that I have ever used. It has been days since I have been able to sit in one of our carpeted rooms. If you are even mildly irritated by strong smells, stay clear of this product- it's awful.

Bissell 37601 Lift-Off Revolution Turbo Upright Bagless Vacuum Review

Bissell 37601 Lift-Off Revolution Turbo Upright Bagless Vacuum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
An upgrade to my last Bissell (Cleanview Deluxe),this one is even better....was ONSALE for $160, and well worth it.
Removeable canister capability is easy and makes this vac so much more versitile...such as taking out to your car or for carpeted steps. I really love the user friendly design of these Bissell vacs....never complex, and I don't feel I need a manual to understand or operate.
Super suction...and the brushes are so powerful, it almost feels self propelled as you push forward.
The 'telescoping' function of the extension wand was a nice upgrade, although it does takes a little time getting used to it...also the new dual-headed brush tool is an inovative idea i like.
Another really nice upgrade is the on/off brush power button...and the vac is now smart, even when brushes are powered ON, they wont rotate till you step on the release pedal AND pull the handle down towards you.
I also noticed you can now pull the handle down literally to the FLOOR without the front of the vac lifting up...this means being able to roll further under couches/tight spots.
If I had to give CONS :
1) There are 3 filters...1 HEPA and 2 foam...the foam filters in particular should be cleaned once a month,as directed..but I check even more often (due to high traffic/pets)... They can get pretty dirty relatively fast, and although u may not notice any loss of suction,I assume cleaning these filters often will always improve performance...... Its not hard to do, they are basically foam sponges u can rinse clean, and they dry pretty quick.
2) The vac when all together as 1 unit, is pretty heavy. Doesnt bother me, but may be an issue to some. My wife immediately noticed the weight... The canaster vac, when separated, is easy to carry with its handle, but some may still find even this a little heavy as well.
In my opinion, the weight is due to good construction and a strong motor. I think its worth it.
3) Seems like a lot of new vacs come with some form or version of a 'turbo brush' attachment. I'm not a fan of these...the brushes are SUCTION driven, NOT motor driven. Its a gimmick tool.. I prefer the simple NON turbo brush tool that come with this vac, and I let the suction power (and a little up/down motion of my own) do the work. I keep the turbo brush permanantly removed from the handle altogether. To me its just added dead weight.
4) only 1 improvenment I could think of now is a retracteable cord....

Bissell 5770 Healthy Home Bagless Upright Vacuum Review

Bissell 5770 Healthy Home Bagless Upright Vacuum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
UPDATE : 2/11/09 See Note Below if you own this unit...
I purchased this as a replacement for a Dyson DC-15 Animal. The Dyson had a high pitched noise that gave both my wife and I a headache. I found I could vacuum with an IPOD on loud, and she could manage it with earplugs. After giving 2 DC-15's a try I started my vacuum search again bought the 5770.
The Good:
1). This vacuum is a great value when compared to the Dyson.
2). The suction is just as good or better than most Dyson's (a sales guy told me the DC-17 has slightly more, but both are great). When vacuuming after the DC-15 the Bissell picked up more stuff. I noticed that the first vacuum with the DC-15 got a bunch of junk out my carpet, but after that it was just a little... This picked up as much dirt as the DC-15 did originally, so I was impressed.
3). It comes standard with the turbo brush, and all the small tools you need. The standard brush attachment is really pretty cool as it is a standard long bristle brush, but then can pull apart and become a short bristle brush in case you need to really scrub something.
4). The hose is great. It's flexible and actually reaches to the top of the stairs (unlike the Dyson).
5). The front end is low to get into short spaces below furniture etc. and it does have a headlight. I thought the headlight was no big deal, but when the extra long cord allowed me to vacuum into a dark room the headlight actually helped out.
6). You can turn the beater brush on and off with a touch of a button. When you stand the unit up it automatically shuts off. The brush also has a separate motor. The Brush is very stiff, like a Dyson, but the bristles are shorter, I believe this makes it easier on your carpet. The Dyson started pulling up lose carpet fibers from the edges of my carpet, I think, because of the longer bristle brush. The Bissell seems to be gentler on my carpet but at the same time it makes the carpet fibers stand right up and look like new. It also has a height adjustment, which, depending on your point of view, is a good thing.
7). It's Quiet! You can actually talk to someone while vacuuming. Don't get me wrong it's still a vacuum, there is still noise, but it's a lower muffled sound that is easy to listen to.
The Bad:
1). It's Heavy! In fact, we almost returned this unit and started looking for something else that would work for us. We ended up keeping the unit, but we took a good couple of days vacuuming the house and thinking it over. Half jokingly I said let's think of this as an exercise machine that just happens to clean the house!
I would recommend taking some time to test this in the store, pushing it around on some carpet (with a pad) like you have at home to get a true feeling for it. Initially (after the wonderfully easy to maneuver DC-15 Ball) it seemed really heavy. After a few days we're used to it and it doesn't seem bad at all.
2). Bissell got the dirt canister wrong, Dyson wins this battle. The canister is in a slight "V" shape so lots of dirt on the top of the pile must somehow compact a bit to fit through a smaller area on the bottom, kind of like going through a funnel. Water flows nicely through a funnel... Dirt does not. The release button is not right on top, like the dyson, so it's a two handed deal to hold the canister and then press the button to release the dirt. Next, the trap door at the bottom is not spring loaded, like the dyson, so it may or may not open, so you might need to flick it open with your finger. The trick with your finger may or may not get you dusty, because the dirt may not just dump out because the nice "V" shape of the unit keeps it in place, maybe this is a good feature? Joking aside, this really could be improved and I hope Bissell does this on future models because it really is a great vacuum.
I justified this dirt canister problem by comparing it to the Dyson... Fluffy stuff (hair, carpet fibers etc.) would get stuck in their dust bin as well, not as much, but it happened. Also, after a few uses the little holes in the inside bottom part of the cyclone clog up so it's a messy job to clean that up. The bottom line here is I think you empty the canister a little more often and your fine, but the nature of either beast is that you're going to have some dirty work ahead of you at some point. It's just the price you pay for superior suction.
Hope this helps!
Update 2/11/09:
Just under the two year mark the brush started to get noisey and smell. Unlike a vacuum from the old days you can't just throw in a new brush and belt. I called Bissell and they had me send the unit back and sent me a refurbished unit.
The Bad: Being a 'Mr. Fixit' kind of guy, I took this apart prior to calling Bissell. (I didn't remember there was a 2 year warranty). The brush bearing cap on one end was worn and the plastic started to melt. There is are mounting/stabilization points near the belt and these were badly worn/melted as well. You cannot fix these mounting points as they are part of the top and bottom of the unit. I have no idea what this would cost to replace, but I'd guess a lot. This seems to be a bad design. Maybe I just had a bad brush, but I don't think so...
The Key is to find the problem prior to the mounting points being destroyed. They do have a bushing that looks like it can be replaced so this should save big $$ on a repair.
What you should do: If you own this unit, or are thinking about buying one, about once a month do the following:
1. Flip the unit over to expose the brush.
2. Remove the junk that gets stuck in the brush.
3. Grab the brush on one end and try to move it up and down or side to side. The brush should be solid and only move round and round.
4. Repeat step 3 on the other side.
Note: If you can move the brush it's starting to go bad. Call Bissell to find the nearest repair facility if your out of warranty. If you're in warranty they'll replace it for you.
I got my refurbed unit today, it works great!

Kenmore Canister Vacuum, Intuition Review

Kenmore Canister Vacuum, Intuition
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Just bought this vacuum today after my Kenmore of 9 years stopped working. I tried it out when I got home and am very pleased! We have a combination of berber carpet, medium length carpet, and hardwood/linoleum. The lady at the store told me this was the "top of the line for Kenmore canisters." I asked what the difference was between "top of the line" and the next level down. This one has the detachable vacuum-head for barefloors, longer cord, longer hose and a swivel head.
I love that the cord is extra long (30 feet). It reaches further than my old vacuum. When I turned on the vacuum, it almost felt like a self-propelled vacuum. On the berber and hardwood, it was very easy to push/pull. I've read another review where they said it didn't push so well on the carpet. On our medium carpet, I put it on low-carpet setting only because I like to think it's cleaning deeper. It did require more effort to push it like that. On the medium setting, it was easy to push/pull. I really like the swivel head. It goes under and around furniture better that way. Switching the carpet level is all controlled at the feet so it's easy to use. Also switching from carpet to barefloor is controlled at the top so that's easy too. It's easy to pop out the barefloor vacuum head and much lighter to push too (with the barefloor vacuum).
I also like that the exhaust part is located on the sides instead of the back of the vacuum. This way when vacuuming stairs and you sit the vacuum up on its back on a step, you don't have to worry about covering the exhaust. This comes with a "stair vacuum" attachment.
I thought the suction was very good and I love the dirt sensor (located on the hand portion as opposed to the vacuum head like the old one).
For some possible cons: The storage part is made of "lighter" (cheap) plastic. My old one was too and it really wasn't a problem as long as you don't treat it roughly. If it were heavier, it would make the vacuum heavier. This is a heavier vacuum compared with some others I tried in the store. But it's the same as my old one so I'm used to it. 24 pounds I think is what was listed. (If you're a mom it's not a problem since we're used to lifting kids.) This is on 3 wheels as opposed to 4 like my old vacuum. It swivels better when pulling it so if you yank too hard it tends to bump into things. I'll just have to get used to that and adjust how hard I pull the vacuum. This does have rubber bumpers all around for people like me who yank it into furniture and walls.
Overall, I recommend this vacuum!

After years of using an old recycled vacuum my wife and I decided to replace it with a HEPA filter model. She prefers upright so we went shopping. Went to a very reliable store that carried many brands and the floor model of this vacuum performed much better than the rest we tried. So we went home with this pricey model. Immediately we recognized this vacuum really provided much more suction than we were used to and everything looked much cleaner. But....we have a dog that sheds and this thing clogs up easily. Even if you pay very close attention to the bag fill monitor. Even then it's hard to tell if you are close to fill or not - it's only when it locks up that you recognize to change the bag. So twice we have had to take it to the shop for cleaning out of dog hair and/or Christmas tree needles. This is not a task you can do by yourself. Then, the entire vacuum lost power to the motherboard and we lost all power. Our dealer replaced it no questions, but the next version had a broken spring on the wheels so the vacuum was tilted and didn't roll across the floor correctly. Again the dealer replaced it. So now we are on our third vacuum in a year and the brush motor started whining so we took it in yesterday and today I learn we'll have to replace it again. Still waiting to see if the warranty will kick in or not. If not, this is our last upright Miele vacuum. I'll buy something much cheaper, more reliable, and easy to repair/clean by the consumer.

Pardon the vacuum pun, but really, this vacuum sucks... in the best way possible!
I ordered this vacuum on the recommendation of a friend who raved about the "sucking power" of this vacuum. I was in the market for a vacuum but never planned to spend quite so much, but her raving testimonial was quite compelling. I am thrilled that I took her advice because this vacuum is amazing!
I bought this vacuum to replace the two other dinosaur vacuums in my house. One was an old upright that used those old fashioned bags. Hair always tangled up in the belt. It was awful. The other was a bagless upright. Both did an OK job of picking up small surface debris, but I could pass that vacuum over and over and over again and still miss stubborn clingy lint or the small scoopable kitty litter granules. I had all but given up on ever having clean carpet again near the litterbox.
One of the first areas I used the Hoover UH70010 Platinum Collection Cyclonic Bagless Upright Vacuum was on that stubborn litterbox area, and without sounding mellow-dramatic, it was absolutely amazing to see how well it picked up those small granules! One pass got 95% of them, and by the second or third pass, my carpet looked brand new again. I would go over that area 10 times with my old vacs and maybe pick up 25% of the litter, so the performance of this vacuum FAR surpassed my expectations!
In addition to the cat and her aforementioned litterbox, I have two shedding dogs in my house, and when I emptied the container, I had what seemed like an entire extra animal's worth of hair collected. Gross, I know, but it seems there is no challenge too big for this vacuum.
I will note that there are two very similar models to this vacuum: the UH70010 and the UH70015. They are the exact same vacuum in terms of power and appearance, but the UH70015 has an "clean/dirty" indicator light that uses some kind of sensor technology to tell you if your carpet is actually clean. My friend purchased that model and told me she drives herself crazy going over and over and over an area to get the "clean" light to appear. This UH70010 model does not have that indicator light. At Amazon.com, it appears the prices of these two models is about equal at around $399, but I found a steal on the UH70010 for $320 at another online retail site. To me, that light was not worth the extra $80, but if it is important to you, be careful about which model you order.
Regardless of which model you choose, I am certain you will be pleased with this vacuum's performance. It really is an outstanding vacuum.
If cost is a concern, I urge you to consider the value of the lifetime filters and the manufacturer's 6 year warranty. If you have to replace your lesser costing vaccums more frequently, you really might as well spring for a better performing and longer lasting vacuum. Your carpets will look better, and you may even save money in the long run.

Purchase requirements - Small - Lightweight - Powerful - Quiet - Long Hose
1.) Small - when I first received my shipment, I was a bit taken aback. The Box was 4'x2'x 1-1/2'. Gosh it was huge and a bit heavy (for a vac). Slowly I opened the package to find another box. A bit relieved, the size seemed a bit more appropriate. I quickly opened the box to find another box. Now we are talking - once this box was opened, I saw what I wanted - a small, good looking, lightweight vac! The Stainless Steel did give the vac a professional appearance.
2.) Lightweight - Definitely meets the bill. No larger in width and length than my keyboard, there will be no problem moving this vac about.
3.) Powerful - I didn't expect much from all the claims (4 horsepower and 95" of waterlift), but this little vac made me a believer in power. This is the first time I only needed to use the crevice tool for awkward corners. Those little pieces of fuzz and hairs that usually needed picked up with your fingers came right up. The seems in upholstery that filled with dust - clean!
4.) Quiet - My subjective is opinion says this machine is quiet for such a powerful vac. In fact, my IQAir Air Cleaner is louder. Switch the 2-speed switch to low (works similar to my old shop vac and this speed); now we are talking quiet!
5.) Long Hose - The 6.5 foot hose, lightweight and flexible does not make the grade. It's adequate for my purposes, but I may purchase a hose extension.
CONS:
1.) The dust bag is quite small (approx. 7" diameter by 5" deep) - this is to be expected in such a tiny package.
2.) Tools look and feel cheap, which is quite typical for all brands. They are however, effective.

Would have given it 0 stars if I could. Clean your blinds the old fashion way, with a feather duster. Just a gimmick!!!

NEW Rug Doctor Wide Track Pro Carpet Shampooer SteamVac Review

NEW Rug Doctor Wide Track Pro Carpet Shampooer SteamVac

(More customer reviews)
I own 2 Bissel cleaners, 1 pro heat and the other is even older. I wanted to try one of these thinking I might buy one because my other 2 are getting some age on them and I have had to repair the oldest one. This unit does a very good job as long as you are cleaning out in the middle of a room (away from walls & ect.). The brush on it agitates back and forth so it will get both sides of the nap. It however does not get very close to edges and when you start cleaning it doesn't start putting out solution very close to the front so you have to have attatchments to get close to walls, stairways, large furniture that you may not want to move each time you clean ect. Also it is big which makes it more awkward for spot cleaning. I don't know if it really cleaned THAT much better than my pro heat (I bought it when they first came out a few years ago - it's not the newest model), but you don't have to stop and add water/clean the pickup tank nearly as often. Another drawback to this machine is that you have to mix the cleaning solution and the water. On the Bissels, you have seperate tanks and if you want to go all water to rinse a spot you just cleaned or go heavier on the cleaning solution for grimier areas, you can just turn a knob. Also in the commericals they would have you believe that the carpets will dry faster. I'm not sure if that is true.
Don't get me wrong, it is a very good cleaner, and it is built like a tank, I'm not sure it is worth almost $1000 ($800 more than the newer Bissel we have which also heats the water, or keeps it good and hot anyway).
We have 3 dogs and 1 clutsy teenage boy still at home, and they keep me busy cleaning carpets. If it really did THAT much better of a job than what I have, I would buy one. Or maybe if the price was a little more in line, at least $300 cheaper. I hope this helps.

Rainbow Vacuum E-2 Type 12 2-Speed Review

Rainbow Vacuum E-2 Type 12 2-Speed
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My main problem with the Rainbow is how it it sold. You have to let the salesperson into your home and they have that darn referral program. But with all that it can do, you really need a presentation. We bought our Rainbow on the spot and have never regretted that decision. We have 2 big, shedding dogs. I have bought the most privey Hoovers and Bissels but none would get rid of that dog smell or fur. The Rainbow purifies the air (also deodorises) as it vacuums. Powerful suction allows you to clean fans, blinds etc. effortlessly. We also have the carpet and floor cleaner. Although more cumbersome than an upright, it does a better job than others that I have tried - even the commercial Rug Doctors. This machine is not for people looking for ease of use. But if you want deep down cleaning, nothing else compares. Tip: when emptying out the canister, sift it so that only the dirty water goes into the toilet. Dump the rest of the clumped dirt and hair into a trash can. We bought our whole system for $1800 and it is still doing a wonderful job. You can also use the Rainbow to blow inflatable pools up and as a small wetvac.
